Many investors believe that shareholder activism provides only a short-term spike in equity trading prices, but a new study shows that results, including lean operations, can be long term. So reports Financial Advisor.

Indeed, in a recent working paper, authors Alon Brav and Song Ma of Duke University, Wei Jiang of Columbia University, and Xuan Tian of Indiana University maintain that the benefits of innovation and patents tend to improve after shareholder activists target companies.
