Americans Skimp on Retirement Planning as Saving Rates Increase

The annual household savings rate climbed to 5.5% last year, up nearly a full percentage point from 2013. So reports CNBC.

However, Americans have decreased the percentage of savings allocated to retirement plans by seven percentage points to 22%. Americans have instead been increasing money that they save for emergencies.
