Government Shutdown Leaves CFTC Unable to Police Markets

Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Gary Gensler said last week that the government shutdown has reduced his staff from 680 to just 20, leaving him unable to supervise the markets. So reports Financial Advisor.

The commission is still capturing trading data that it will scan for evidence of fraud after the government shutdown ends, he added.
