What to Expect from Gary Gensler, Biden’s Pick for SEC Chair

Biden’s pick to run the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, has some on Wall Street worried about a tougher regulatory environment. So reports Reuters.

Gary GenslerGensler’s appointment is expected to end the rule-softening seen under the Trump administration and SEC chair Jay Clayton for brokers, Wall Street firms and funds. Gensler, who has been leading financial industry oversight planning for the Biden transition, had been the chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for five years—from 2009 to 2014.

Policy experts predict Gensler will “pursue new corporate disclosures on climate change related-risks, political spending, and the composition and treatment of their workforces,” according to the article.
