Gensler: SEC Looking at Retail Trading Apps, SPACs and Dark Pools

Chairman Gary Gensler said the SEC is looking at retail trading apps and SPACs out of concern for the wellbeing of smaller investors. So reports Barron’s.

Gary GenslerWhile it’s not clear what action the SEC will take, Gensler has repeatedly said that zero commission trades are “not free” and do come with costs that are not obvious. He did note that the agency would look at the equity market structure and also noted that other countries have banned payment for order flow.

Gensler also expressed concern about the number of orders that are routed to dark pools.
